Pregnancy in Blue

There is something wonderfully powerful about the physical transformation of pregnancy.

In this original oil painting, I explore the pregnant figure through bold color, expressive shapes, and an intentionally stylized approach. Rather than creating a traditional portrait, I wanted to capture something of the energy of pregnancy, the sense of change, movement, anticipation, and the very real physical presence of carrying another person.

The figure becomes a composition of curves, color, and gesture. The abstracted forms allow the painting to move beyond a specific individual and into something more universal, while still keeping the pregnant body firmly at the center.

Color plays an important role here. Instead of treating pregnancy as something quiet or delicate, I wanted the painting to have presence. The shapes push against one another, creating movement and visual energy that reflects the complexity of the experience itself.

This is a painting about the body, but also about transformation. About becoming something you weren't before and carrying the evidence of that change right there in front of you.
