Wax Figure Series

Classical oil painting meets comic-book language: figures think, speak, misunderstand and occasionally find themselves in situations that look ridiculous until they don't. The paintings are about people, what we say, what we mean, and the (sometimes) considerable distance between the two.

The technique borrows its lighting from the Old Masters to create a depth that is real. Word bubbles and thought bubbles give each figure a way to communicate. The figures think one thing. Say another. Or sometimes they say nothing at all. The characters inhabit imagined worlds that feel familiar yet slightly mysterious. Their interactions hint at unspoken conversations, hidden tensions, and moments of humor that invite viewers to invent their own stories.
