Call it a diatribe about the environment. Call it a monologue about being young and inexperienced. Call it the color of *Elpheba’s skin. Anyway you cut it, it’s not easy being green. The word balloon is an attempt at self expression. The scribbles inside are the same color as the figure himself to represent him trying to express what’s inside of him. Unfortunately, the figure thinks he’s being perfectly clear and all we can see are scribbles. With all of the means of communication, we still struggle to be understood.
