Fame

I wanted to capture the feeling of a leap or maybe that split second when a dancer leaves the ground and anything seems possible. The figure is caught mid-air, somewhere between a jump, a dance move, and pure celebration.

The painting is deliberately full of energy. Movement, color, and gesture work together to create a sense of excitement and unfiltered joy. There’s something youthful about it, not necessarily young, but that particular feeling of being completely caught up in the moment, before you start worrying about how you look or whether you’re doing it right.

In my mind, the painting has the exuberance of the final dance scene in Fame: bodies in motion, adrenaline, freedom, and the sheer pleasure of moving just because you can. It isn't about perfect choreography. It's about the joy of being in it.

I wanted the figure to feel almost weightless, suspended in that wonderful instant before gravity remembers its job.
