Lollipop Kid

Lollipop Kid is a celebration of childhood wonder and the simple treasures that become larger than life in our memories. The painting features one of my signature wax figures striding forward with determination, proudly holding a lollipop that seems almost as large as he is. The figure's exaggerated eyes and playful construction convey a sense of excitement, curiosity, and optimism that feels both familiar and universal.

The work draws inspiration from the way children move through the world. Ordinary objects become prized possessions. A piece of candy can feel like a trophy. A walk down the sidewalk can become an adventure. The figure's confident posture transforms a simple treat into something heroic, elevating a fleeting moment of joy into a lasting image.

As with much of my work, the wax figure exists somewhere between abstraction and personality. It is fragile yet resilient, awkward yet self-assured. The character becomes a stand-in for all of us, the child we once were and the childlike wonder we sometimes forget to carry with us.

The bright colors and playful composition invite viewers into a world where delight matters, imagination leads the way, and happiness does not require justification. The figure is not rushing toward a destination. Instead, it seems fully engaged in the experience of the journey itself.
